About the Business
Miles of Smiles was created in 2004 by qualified professional photographer Darren Miles. Darren picked up his first film SLR camera at the age of 15 after becoming fascinated with the images his father was making, shooting weddings for family and friends. After leaving school and working as a prototype engineering model-maker designing toys and games, the hobby of photography remained one of Darren's primary interests. To further his knowledge and education Darren completed his City & Guilds Certificate in Photography, learning how to light, process and print black and white photographs, plus learning a little about the history of photography. Following a background in design and engineering Darren decided that his creative talents were not being exercised to their full potential so decided to leave a 10 year position in engineering and create Miles of Smiles.
