About the Business
My life-long love of photography started in London over 30 years ago as a child travelling with my parents. I was fascinated by beautiful London and the way I could frame images with the viewfinder of my mum’s Minolta 35mm camera. Those were the days of film, so actually pressing the shutter was a big deal.
It meant you had to wait until you’d finished the roll, wait until you could drop it at the lab, and then wait for it to be developed until you could see how many of your 24 or 36 frames turned out as you’d hoped. I was put on quota of one photo per day at the age of 7. Luckily times changed!
I self-taught in photography after an undergraduate university degree in economics and post graduate diploma in fine arts from the Royal Society of Arts. Working at Christie’s Auction House and later for a world-reknowned decorative art dealer, I started my professional career as a photographer photographing furniture and objets on film for designers and catalogue publications.
In 2005 I photographed a friend’s wedding in London while a guest as my present to her. I wanted to surprise her with natural photography on the day which captured her and her husband, the details, her parents and friends having a great time. She already had a professional wedding photographer, but I wanted to give her something unique and special by breakfast the next day.
